St. Egidius is one of the oldest parishes in the Franconian Forest. Already in 1323/28 it is attested as "ecclesia parrochalis" (full parish church).
The current parish church was built in the years 1722-1726 but was not consecrated until 1770.

The church in Lahm near Kronach, dedicated to Saint Giles, has a long history. It was first documented in 1325. As the original church became too small over time, the current Baroque church was built between 1722 and 1726. It was consecrated in 1770.
