Hiking

Just under a kilometer from the dam, you can cross the Saale via this narrow pedestrian walkway. The view upstream towards the dam is great. A little further downstream you can see the buildings of the Hohenwarte pumped storage plant.

Hiking

The Saale bridge was built from 1972-1973. It leads you over the lower basin to the former cardboard factory and offers you a great view of the dam. A head for heights is recommended.
