A land cross was placed at the highest point of the Boerskotten in 1946 on behalf of Mrs. Baurigter-Essink, in gratitude that her family and the immediate neighbors survived the war well. The wood for the land cross comes from the forests of the Boerskotten. The land cross was consecrated by Johannes Cardinal de Jong on July 15, 1946. The blessing therefore took place on the patron saint's feast of Saint Plechelmus, the patron saint of Oldenzaal and De Lutte.

Hiking

In the free space between two trees of this avenue, a place was created for a small sacred monument at the edge of the path, in the center of which is a crucifix. The wooden cross with body (figure of Christ) stands on a small brick base. Above its head, at the top of the longitudinal bar, is the INRI tablet. These four letters stand for Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews (in Latin language and spelling, so our "J" is also represented as "I").
