Only in the course of natural forest development do the main tree species oak and beech gradually establish themselves. The birch can still hold its own here, but in some places the first oaks have already gained a foothold. The undergrowth of the birch forest is mainly formed from pipe grass - a grass that shows boggy, wet locations.
