The Soester Gräfte is a beautiful park, which was created from the historic city fortifications and is located in front of the wall outside the old town. The rose garden in the Gräfte is located on the Dasselwall. The wall as the actual fortification is lined with large old trees and can also be walked on. From the wall there are some very nice views of historic old town houses, as well as the moats and the rose garden. A "highlight" of the wall is also the Kattenturm.

The ramparts are made of green sandstone and had 28 semicircular battlemented towers, one of which is still intact, namely the Kattenturm. He stands on the wall at the Soest town hall on the Ulrich-Jakobi-Wall. Today's wall is a further development of medieval military technology.

"The massive, medieval Soest city wall (around 1180) is part of the globally unique green sandstone ensemble" Old Town Soest ". It is the longest existing wall in Germany and two thirds of the former 3.8 km are still preserved Even through the moats, in front of which the outer wall used to run, you can now take wonderful walks and look into some of the old town gardens.

Only Soest and Lucca in Tuscany have such a walk-in and tree-lined weir system across Europe. "
