Waldstein granite is very popular and of high quality. It is mined in this quarry. It is light gray to pastel yellow in color with a uniform, medium-grain structure.

The Waldstein quarry is still an active quarry owned by Grasyma AG. Core granite is mined here, e.g. Use in road and railway construction (inclined plane) or in monumental construction (Reichstag site). - With the founding of the United Fichtelgebirge Granite, Syenite and Marble Works AG, in 1909 twelve previously quarries in the Fichtel Mountains, which had been privately operated, were brought together. The result was a company with around 1,000 employees and a total of 21 quarries.

Hiking
Already in the 15th century began around the Fichtelgebirge the first attempts to break down the granite. Later put a brisk granite mining on Waldstein. Meanwhile, the granite from Waldstein has to contend with strong competition from China.
