At 1,559 meters high, the Sierra de Aitana takes the title of the highest mountain in Alicante. The summit itself is located in military territory and cannot be accessed, but you can get very close along a road in good condition. The views from the top are impressive and getting there certainly requires physical effort, but the reward is incredible.

The Aitana, as the highest mountain in the Marina Alta, is a must for every passionate hiker. The summit itself is in a restricted area and instead of the usual post there is a spherical antenna, but you can get very close. I liked it very much up there.
