The church of San Martino from 962 is to the northwest of the town center, near the motorway. The Romanesque building from the 12th / 13th centuries. In the 18th century, it was built over the remains of three previous churches. The oldest building probably goes back to the Carolingian era.
The nave, decorated with small blind arches in Lombard-Romanesque style, has been preserved, while the rectangular choir and the other parts of the church were built much later, in the Baroque period.

Ancient Romanesque church. The population of Mendrisio is very attached to this monument. In November the traditional Fiera di San Martino is held around the meadows of the Church. Very popular fair.
