Gravel riding
The Thalasso platform at the Dünensender is a popular viewpoint and retreat in the middle of the dune landscape.
It was built in 2015 by Staatsbad Norderney GmbH (design: Ralf Krause). The wooden structure consists of untreated, rough-sawn Douglas fir on hot-dip galvanized steel screw foundations, which were gently integrated into nature.
The platform offers a 360-degree panoramic view over the dunes. Special wind- and weather-protected seating elements (so-called "cocoons") serve as small, sheltered retreats.
