Today's castle church was built instead of the old Gothic church of St. Catherine.
The festive hall has a classicist character.
Interesting is the history of confirmation, which was "born" in Ziegenhain. However, for this, meetings were held in the castle.

The baroque castle church within the fortress Ziegenhain was built between 1665 and 1667 as a reformed preaching church, on August 30th of that year the hall church was opened in the presence of Landgrave Wilhelm VII. The building was damaged by bombing during the Seven Years' War in 1761. Johann Andreas Heinemann installed the organ in 1769/71, which was expanded and rebuilt in the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1927 the roof ridge was rebuilt and renovated, and in 1962 the interior was redesigned.
