The Botanical Gardens are an oasis in the middle of Oslo and open all year round. The garden is part of the University of Oslo.
Large parts of the garden are laid out as an arboretum. The alpine garden with stream and waterfall contains over a thousand plants. The plants are arranged according to genus and family in systematic sections; the crop dept. shows the most important crops. The scented garden, provided with Braille, consists of scented plants in raised beds.
