The city iconography Schwelm, 1969-1971, was created by the internationally recognized artist Otto Herbert Hajek, born in 1927 in Kaltenbach, Bohemia, died in Stuttgart in 2005.
"Hajek's works of art stand as democratic memorials for tolerance all over the world. His city iconographies installed around the world - in the basic colors yellow, red and blue, executed in basic geometric shapes and contemporary materials such as concrete and steel - testify to a commitment carried out by art for a more human-friendly city. "
