Cycling
One of the most important Catholic places of worship in Puglia, the Cathedral of Otranto saw the light in the twelfth century, on previous settlements of the Messapian, Roman and early Christian periods. Of particular artistic importance is the mosaic inside, commissioned in 1163 by the archbishop of Otranto Gionata and executed by the monk Pantaleone.

The cathedral was built on the remains of earlier structures and consecrated in 1088. Over the centuries, it was rebuilt and restored several times, particularly after the Turkish siege of 1480, during which many of the original frescoes were destroyed and the structure itself damaged.
