Rusland is an untypical heathland on the coast near Dronningenmølle. In the centuries to the 1730s, the coastal area in North Zealand developed into a sandy desert. Thanks to a huge amount of work, the sand escape was stopped by planting.
In the middle of this protected heath landscape lies the Rudof Tegner Museum with its imposing statue park.
Whether the name Rusland really goes back to the monk Rus is not clear. Other explanation simply see it as a term for a barren area.
