The Bogenluch, like the Papenluch, which lies a little further south, is a meltwater channel from the Ice Age. It drains into the Havel via the Briese. After the end of the Ice Age, a fen worthy of protection was formed here with special vegetation such as sundew. After reunification, the area was renaturalized and has been part of the Briesetal FFH area since the beginning of the 2000s.
