Conveyor wheel from the winding tower of the Emil Mayrisch colliery, which was shut down in 1992. Nice memory of a time I was allowed to experience! This bike got me working safely at 860m depth.

The Emil Mayrisch colliery's winding wheel, a striking relic of the coal mine, is a popular photo subject and a reminder of the colliery, which was closed in 1992. It originates from the mine's winding tower, which was located in Siersdorf near Aldenhoven. The winding wheel was used to transport cages carrying miners and coal underground.
