The bridge here crosses the old Passau–Hauzenberg railway line. No trains have run since 2001, the tracks at Staffelbach lie abandoned and are slowly being overgrown with greenery. Once, the "Granitbahn" transported stones from the Hauzenberg quarries all the way to Passau – built by Italian stonemasons, praised as one of the most beautiful railway lines in Germany. Whether it will ever run again or become a cycle path remains open to this day. A quiet moment with real railway history under your feet.
