In 1955, the Rotterdam Citrus Auction moved into this building on Marconistraat in the western port area of Rotterdam. It was an initiative of three fruit importers: Jan van den Brink's Im- en Exporthandel, Velleman en Tas and Citronas. The first two companies also settled in the complex. The assignment for a design went in 1951 to the architectural firm Van Tijen een Maaskant.
