Hiking
On its way from the source in the Bohemian Aš to the confluence with the Saale, the White Elster mainly characterizes the easternmost part of Thuringia and passes the cities of Greiz and Gera. But for the time being it reaches the German border at Bad Elster after a few kilometers, is dammed behind Oelsnitz to the Pirk dam, flows through Plauen and the Vogtland Switzerland and finally crosses the Saxon border at Elsterberg.
