Hiking
The idea for the artwork arose from an engagement with the site itself. It harks back to the formation of Lake Dümmer approximately 13,000 years ago and to the presumed first settlement in the Neolithic period, which has been confirmed by archaeological excavations.
The house symbolizes the permanent arrival of humans in this previously untouched landscape. To secure their existence in this location, they began to influence natural conditions. They practiced fishing, agriculture, animal husbandry, and protected themselves from flooding.
This continues to the present day and creates a tension in the region between nature conservation, agriculture, and tourism.
