Hiking

The memorial is dedicated to the dark side of oil shale mining during the Nazi era. The first stations are in a landscape conservation area that is now a refuge for rare bird species. In the middle of the area overgrown by hedges, a slate kiln with an old original dump truck can be visited. The "Denk-mal" invites you to pause and visualize how low the yield of shale oil was.
