The trail then transitions to a climbing path, leading to a long, panoramic crest with gentle ascents and descents towards the summit. This 8.5-mile (13.6 km) route involves 1437 feet (438 metres) of elevation gain and typically takes about 4 hours and 5 minutes to complete, offering spectacular 360-degree views from the exposed crest and peak.
To plan your visit, begin your adventure at Piana del Lago, situated at around 1300 metres. The trail is generally considered moderate and requires good fitness, but it is suitable for most skill levels. Be aware that during winter, the trail can be covered in snow, and the exposed ridge may experience strong winds and icy conditions. If you plan to hike in winter, you might need specialized equipment like crampons and an ice axe, along with a good sense of orientation, to navigate safely.
