The El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria is a historic market hall from 1876 in the Born district of the same name in Barcelona, which is now used as a significant cultural center. Inside the impressive cast-iron architecture are exposed archaeological excavation sites with the well-preserved ruins of the La Ribera district from the early 18th century. After the siege of 1714, King Philip V had this district destroyed, which is why the site today stands as a central symbol for the loss of Catalan independence and Catalan history.
