Rasinari is the first Transylvanian village mentioned in official documents since 1204. The name of the commune - Răşinari - is a derivative of the noun rasină (resin). Until Sibiu was founded, the villagers lived by selling the resin that they took for selling to the nearby market in Cisnadie. It is therefore possible that the inhabitants of this village were called rasinari, a name that later became the name of the name of the village itself. Attractions: Emil Cioran's Memorial House, Andrei Saguna's Mausoleum, Octavian Goga's Memorial House, the Orthodox and St. Paraschiva's Church.
