The ruins of the monastic settlement of Glendalough are picturesquely situated in a valley in the Wicklow Mountains. It is a very special place for my wife and I, which we visited several times in later years. You can go hiking on and around the two lakes that gave the valley its name. The youth hostel is recommended for overnight stay.
