The train station was opened in 1875 together with the Linksufrige Zürichseebahn (Left Bank Zurich Lake Railway). In 1878, the Zürichsee–Gotthardbahn (Zurich Lake–Gotthard Railway) opened the connection across the new Seedamm from Rapperswil to Pfäffikon SZ. The continuation via the line over the Sattel to Arth-Goldau was built by the successor company Südostbahn and inaugurated in 1891.
