This fishing trawler, one of the last wooden examples in sea fishing, was built in Cherbourg in 1959 and decommissioned in 1991. Because of the trawl nets on both sides, the trawler was classified as a "historic monument". A presentation under the bridge, complete with engine roar and the stench of diesel fish, tells how the fishermen lived on their five to ten day sea voyages. An exhibition about the sea and seafaring life has been set up in the old fish hold.

A small monument all by itself, but so iconic.
