Visited the VAMberg or col du Vam from Deventer. Nice for once. With a lot of imagination in terms of view, it reminds a little of an Alpine climb. Furthermore, it is two steep parts and a cobblestone strip on a garbage dump.

The VAM berg (or Col du VAM as they call it nowadays) is part of a bigger garbage dump, turned into a recreational hill. With it's 48 meters it's quite the mountain (in The Netherlands that is) and the multiple roads leading up and down (including a mountainbike trail) make for a nice training ground or just chance of scenery for those tired of the flats of Drenthe.
Pro: the Ronde van Drenthe bicycle race hits this 'mountain' every year.
Con: It's still a garbage dump site in the middle of nowhere.

Never climbed a 'real' mountain by bike? The VAM-berg may not be a top-class pass, but you can certainly test your climbing and descending talents here.
