Erected in 1869, nine years after Ghega's death, by the Austrian Society of Engineers and Architects at Semmering Station. Allegedly as restitution for a vehement opposition to the construction of the Semmering Railway expressed in a publication in 1849.

For hiking, we recommend the railway hiking trail to Gloggnitz. There are many interesting display boards along the way. If you would like to know more, I recommend the Southern Railway Museum in Mürzzuschlag, right next to the train station. suedbahnmuseum.at
