At the spot where the Kirchle stands, there was probably already a chapel in the Middle Ages, the Chapel of St. George. This, however, fell into disrepair over time and collapsed at the end of the 17th century, except for the tower. This has been preserved over the centuries, including the bell, and was fundamentally renovated in 1925 by local craftsmen.
