The stele “…commemorates the rediscovery of the statue of Mary, which was buried not far from the spot where the stele stands in the 17th century to protect it from destruction during the Palatinate War of Succession. After the war nobody could remember the exact place of burial and so Sörgenlocher prayed to God to reveal the place to them. There was an apparition over a meadow ('Heiligenwiese') not far from the stele and that's where the statue was found buried.
