Embark on the Bell Trail #13 for a demanding hike that covers 12.1 miles (19.4 km) with a significant elevation gain of 1616 feet (493 metres). This difficult route typically takes around 5 hours and 42 minutes to complete. You will experience diverse terrain, moving from open grasslands and junipers to striking red sandstone formations, all while enjoying views of the riparian area and canyon.
When planning your visit, remember that proper hydration is essential, especially during warmer months, as cell service is limited in the canyon. Be aware that flash flooding can occur during the monsoon season, which runs from July to September. Also, note that camping and campfires are not allowed on the Bell Trail or within the Wet Beaver Creek Wilderness area.
This trail is a highlight of the Wet Beaver Wilderness, known for its natural beauty. A major attraction is "The Crack" at Wet Beaver Creek, a deep, natural swimming hole nestled within a slot canyon. Beyond this popular spot, the trail continues to a high, grassy plateau, offering expansive views that make the effort worthwhile.
