The huge building complex of the Patent Office on the Theresienhöhe partially occupies the former site of the Hacker-Pschorr brewery. An important public pedestrian crossing connects the Hackerbrücke with the Theresienwiese, so it is a main access to the Oktoberfest. From the somewhat sterile Kurt-Härtel-Passage with the fountain system of Hansjörg Voth, a pedestrian bridge over the Bayerstraße leads to the so-called city balcony with a wide view along this important arterial road to the west.
