The Santa Fe Companion Trail runs for 19 miles parallel to the original historic Santa Fe Trail, which you can spot by looking for limestone posts near the trail. The trail is well marked and easy to follow was deliberately constructed to blend in with the landscape from afar to preserve views. Signboards along the path chronicle the history of the original Santa Fe Trail.
