The College of San Ignacio, popularly known as the Montisión building, was built by the Jesuits between 1696 and 1738, although this ecclesiastical order had already occupied the premises in 1703. First it comprised a church and a monastery, built in 1767 after that of Charles III. ordered expulsion of the Jesuits from Spain were abandoned.
