A commemorative plaque was erected in honor of Martha Schmidt on the green area of the former Schnös inn in Himmelkron. The community wants to say thank you for the humanity shown by Martha Schmidt during the Nazi dictatorship. Martha Schmidt had shown moral courage when transporting disabled people, took one of the children home with her and thus probably saved her from being murdered.

Hiking

The T4 campaign, named after the headquarters at Tiergärtnerstraße 4 - Berlin, was aimed at moving people with disabilities to killing homes and extermination centers. After there was public resistance to these measures, this operation continued to work covertly. The disabled were relocated to distant parts of the country and the relatives were deliberately deceived as to the cause of death of those affected.
