A historical inventory by the Wiedenbrück district administrator from the 19th century states: "The weavers are so poor that the spinner often cannot even get money from them. In the Wiedenbrück district ... the situation is even sadder. Misery, hardship and misery are the lot of the home yarn spinners in these areas. There are no words to describe their situation.
