The construction of the railway line connecting Żmigród with Milicz (and further on to Sulmierzyce) was part of the expansion of the regional railway network in Prussia, aimed at improving passenger and freight transport. This section was put into service at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, probably in 1898.
