Embark on the Bartram Trail: Wallace Branch to William's Pulpit, a moderate hiking route that spans 4.0 miles (6.4 km) out and back. You will gain 882 feet (269 metres) in elevation, typically taking about 2 hours and 32 minutes to complete. The trail begins with a gentle path alongside Wallace Branch Creek, leading you past Ray Cove Falls before a more challenging ascent to William's Pulpit, a prominent rocky outcrop offering expansive views.

When planning your visit, be aware that the trail can become muddy after rain, especially in narrower sections with roots and stones. While generally considered family-friendly, the final climb to William's Pulpit is significantly steeper, so prepare for a good workout. This route offers a secluded experience, perfect if you are looking for a peaceful outing away from crowds.

This section of the Bartram Trail winds through the lush Nantahala National Forest, providing a chance to see wildflowers in spring and summer. William's Pulpit itself is a 100-foot-long rock formation, providing panoramic mountain vistas. From this viewpoint, you can clearly see iconic peaks like Standing Indian and Albert Mountain, making it a highlight for scenic photography and enjoying the vastness of the surrounding landscape.
