Interesting viewpoint in Badlands National Park. From this point, you are able to see the environment transition from eroded Badland rock formations to prairie.

Buffalo are known to roam this area, so keep your eye out for them if you stop to admire the view.

The Scenic loop is a difficult touring bicycle route, challenging you with 58.7 miles (94.5 km) and a substantial 1727 feet (526 metres) of elevation gain. You can expect to spend about 6 hours and 42 minutes immersed in a rugged, otherworldly landscape. As you cycle, you will pass sharply eroded buttes, deep canyons, and expansive grasslands, with dramatic vistas from viewpoints like Pinnacles Overlook. Keep an eye out for bison and other wildlife as you navigate the unique geological formations.

Planning your ride on this route requires careful thought. The Badlands Loop Road, which makes up part of the trail, is narrow with many curves and limited shoulder space; be aware of vehicle traffic, especially during peak season. Water is extremely scarce along the entire 58.7 miles (94.5 km), so you must carry ample supplies, as refills are only available at visitor centers. For the best experience and to avoid intense heat, consider cycling early in the morning, ideally from mid-spring through late fall.

This route offers a unique chance to witness millions of years of geological history unfold before you. The landscape is defined by its distinctive jagged spires and pinnacles, showcasing the forces of erosion over time. Beyond the geology, the area is home to diverse wildlife, including the iconic bison, making it a truly immersive natural experience.
