    Hiking

Stargaze Point is located in the Boise Mountains. There is a very well-marked trail that leads from Beaver Creek Summit to the Stargaze Backcountry Yurt. Stargaze Point is just a little further up the trail. This hike is highly recommended for families as the three miles round trip is very manageable.

    Hiking

Stargaze Point is a great option for families, even those with little legs or who are less athletic. An up and back trail makes for a rewarding experience. During the summer, you can either hike or drive up the majority of the trail using the forest road and then the remaining 1/4 mile or so is on foot, regardless. Very doable and the view is worth it, even when there is smoke from wild fires.

Embark on the Stargaze Point Trail, a moderate hike spanning 3.0 miles (4.9 km) with an elevation gain of 607 feet (185 metres), typically completed in 1 hour and 33 minutes. As you ascend, the path winds through varied landscapes, from open grasslands to dense pine thickets and even areas of burned forest. The terrain gradually opens up, revealing expansive vistas. From Stargaze Point itself, you'll be rewarded with magnificent 360-degree panoramic views of the rolling Boise Mountains and the rugged Sawtooth Mountain Range. In winter, the snow-covered trees transform the area into a surreal landscape.

You can enjoy the trail year-round, making it a great option for hiking in summer or snowshoeing during the colder months. When planning your visit, be aware that much of the route is exposed, so remember to bring sun protection and plenty of water if you are hiking in warm weather. In winter, expect significant snow, though the path is often packed down; blowing snow can obscure parts of the trail along the high ridge.

Located in the Boise National Forest, the trail offers a rewarding outdoor experience with its diverse scenery. The changing landscape, from open grasslands to dense forests, provides a dynamic backdrop for your adventure. Whether you visit in summer or winter, the trail's unique features and panoramic views make it a notable destination in the region.
