The building dates from the 16th century and is the birthplace of the painter Hendrik Luyten. The facade is from 1746. The left side facade of the building is red. These are traces of dressing the wall with ox meat red.
It appears that ox blood was used because it protected the wood from rotting by clotting the platelets. The color is therefore red-brown
