Cycling

At Hemmeres (municipality of Winterspelt) the railway crosses the border river Our twice: the railway was a Belgian corridor through Germany and created a German enclave. In 1949, Belgium took possession of all of Hemmeres (no longer a German enclave), but with the 1956 border treaty, Belgium transferred Hemmeres and the railway corridor to Germany.

Hiking

It is wonderful to stay at the Our in the hamlet of Hemmeres. There is a picnic area and you can swim in the water at the foot of a steep wall.
