The University of Antwerp is a young university, created from three university institutions: UFSIA (University Faculties Sint-Ignatius Antwerp), RUCA (National University Center Antwerp) and UIA (University Institution Antwerp). Since 1973, the three institutions have worked together in a confederation under the name 'University of Antwerp'.
