There are a handful of overlooks while on the Sardine Peak Trail. You break in and out of the trees if you decide to do this short spur trail to the mountain's actual summit. There is another (albeit, better) lookout just south of this spur trail on the ridge.

    Sardine Peak Ogden Overlook Trail

    490m

Prepare for a difficult jogging adventure on the Sardine Peak Ogden Overlook Trail, covering 9.6 miles (15.4 km) with a significant 1599 feet (487 metres) of elevation gain. This route typically takes around 2 hours and 4 minutes to complete, guiding you through diverse landscapes of meadows, aspen, and pine forests. You will be rewarded with panoramic views of Ogden Canyon and the surrounding area, including a clear sight of Pineview Reservoir from Sardine Peak itself.

While the trail is accessible year-round, be aware that summer months can bring high temperatures and limited shade, making for a more strenuous experience. If you plan to jog after rain, exercise caution as sections with loose gravel can become slick. Remember that you will be sharing the path with both hikers and mountain bikers, so stay alert and be considerate of others.

This trail is particularly notable for its vibrant display of wildflowers, especially if you visit in late May or June. The varied terrain and changing scenery, from open meadows to dense forest, make it a dynamic and engaging route for those seeking a challenging and visually rewarding jogging experience in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
