This is an alternative to the club szene on Bourbon Street, also lot's of music clubs and bars, but less rowdy and touristy (although still frequented by tourists a lot).

Hiking
Frenchmen Street has lots of bars with great music. There is no cover charge but you are expected to buy a drink at least for each set. I saw Tuba Skinny at The Maison and would thoroughly recommend this bar. It has 2 stages and you get have a dance and enjoy nice food too.
