Sterkrade's city center in Oberhausen is a vibrant hub with a charming blend of tradition and modernity. It offers not only numerous shopping opportunities – for example, at the Sterkrader Tor shopping center – but also regular events such as the popular Sterkrade weekly market, which takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays and offers regional products and cozy cafés.
A special highlight is the traditional Corpus Christi Fair, which was once considered the largest street fair in Europe. Historically, the area is closely linked to the former Sterkrade Monastery and the industrial history surrounding the Gutehoffnungshütte (Good Hope Ironworks).

Compared to other city centers, still a colorful mix of shops.
The downside: cleanliness in the immediate vicinity of the Technical Town Hall is maintained, but a few hundred meters further, around the old Finke furniture store, the street is littered with fast food remnants and drift garbage.
