After the tumultuous cacophony and claustrophobia of the Nevis Gorge, it comes as something of a surprise when you suddenly emerge into the idyllic Steall Meadow. Wild flowers bloom in spring and wooded mountainsides rise on all sides. The crowning glory is the backdrop of An Steall waterfall, cascading down from the Mamores.

The Steall Waterfall is located in Glen Nevis near Fort William and is one of Scotland's most impressive waterfalls. From the car park, a short, well-maintained hiking trail leads through a narrow, fairytale-like gorge. After about 20 minutes, the view opens up to the 120-meter-high waterfall. Especially after rainfall, the water plunges with tremendous force over the rock face into the depths.
