    Running

Trail through the Peters Canyon Regional Park, starting at the intersection of Canyon View Ave and Jamboree Rd and going down to the Lower Reservoir. The path is sand and gravel - and it has some rough patches and areas washed out, but a joy nonetheless.
It is part of the ‘Mountains to Sea Trail’. And the Peters Canyon Trail continues further south, but is paved after passing the Lower Reservoir.

Embark on the Peters Canyon East Ridge Loop for a moderate jogging experience that takes you through varied terrain and offers expansive views. This route covers 8.7 miles (13.9 km) with an elevation gain of 554 feet (169 metres), typically completed in about 1 hour and 42 minutes. As you jog along the ridge, you'll be treated to panoramic vistas of Peters Canyon and the wider Orange County area, with the Peters Canyon Reservoir often visible below.

Before you head out, remember that a $3 day-use parking fee is required to access Peters Canyon Regional Park. The park is open daily from 7 a.m. until sunset, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your jog. The trails are clearly marked, and you can pick up a map at the park entrance. If you plan to visit during the summer, be sure to bring ample water and sun protection, as temperatures can get quite high.

This loop is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area, passing through diverse habitats like grasslands and riparian zones. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including mule deer and various bird species, which add to the trail's appeal. On exceptionally clear days, you might even catch a glimpse of the distant San Bernardino mountains and Catalina Island from the higher points along the route.
