Nikka-mon (or Jikka mon) Gate was one of the naikaku-mon gates that comprised the dairi (imperial palace) and was located on the east side of the south gareden on teh Shishinden Hall (Throne Hall). The Nikka-mon Gate that stands in the present Kyoto Imperial Palace was rebuilt according to the ancient design.

The Nikkamon Gate is a crucial architectural feature inside the Kyoto Imperial Palace, standing on the eastern side of the Shishinden (Ceremonial Hall) courtyard. It is worth seeing because it represents the elegant, vermillion-red style of traditional Imperial court architecture and functions as a symbolically important boundary to the palace's most sacred space. While visitors do not pass through it, it is a key landmark along the route that showcases the historical and visual dignity of the former Emperor's residence.
